And with a different operating system, in this case <strong>DD-WRT<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-white-color has-blush-bordeaux-gradient-background has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/KNwF_V5fTwk\"><strong>Watch on YouTube<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"How to upgrade your wireless router with DD-WRT (TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v1.8)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KNwF_V5fTwk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  For this tutorial I am using the TP-Link TL-WR1043ND router. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  What do we need for this?<br>We need a <strong>router<\/strong>, its <strong>power supply<\/strong> and a <strong>LAN<\/strong> cable.<br>&nbsp;<br>You need to turn on the router (logical) and connect it to your computer using a LAN cable.<br>For the sake of stability and security, I do <strong>not  recommend<\/strong> doing this over WiFi.<br>&nbsp;<br>The next step is to download new firmware.<br>We need to open the following <a href=\"https:\/\/dd-wrt.com\/\">link<\/a> in a web browser.<br>When the page loads, click on the <strong>router database<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"237\" height=\"45\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-733\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  and enter the model of your router and press &#8220;Enter&#8221; (on the keyboard) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"395\" height=\"74\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-735\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-1.png 395w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-1-300x56.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  As you can see, I have a choice of four revisions.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"745\" height=\"117\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-736\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-2.png 745w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-2-300x47.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  Now let&#8217;s take a look at the device label, what it says and what revision do I have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> And as you can see, I have version <strong>1.8<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"403\" height=\"283\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-737\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-3.png 403w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-3-300x211.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  which means I have to download version <strong>1.x<\/strong>. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  With version <strong>1.8<\/strong> of this router, it is important to pay<strong> attention<\/strong> the <strong>serial number<\/strong> of the device. So if you have a <strong>TP-Link TL-WR1043 v1.8<\/strong> whose serial number starts with SN: <strong>12<\/strong>, the firmware update process is different. Details of this process will be posted on the Hepek website or in the forum. (<strong>coming soon<\/strong>)<br>&nbsp;<br>It is also very important to know that if the wrong version is selected, your router may no longer be able to be switched on or booted.<br>Work carefully and check everything three times.<br>&nbsp;<br>Now I click on the version that is right for me or <strong>1.X<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"152\" height=\"169\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-740\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  Here we see that I have a choice between several versions of the BETA branch.<br>I will choose the latest version available, namely <strong>40559<\/strong>.<br>&nbsp;<br>In such cases, it is very important that you first check whether &#8220;someone&#8221; is complaining online about the version of frmware specified for your model.<br>Check that there are no current problems, especially if the version was recently released, so check which version is the most stable.<br>&nbsp;<br>I have three files to choose from, I download all three even though I only need one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"557\" height=\"119\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-741\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-5.png 557w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-5-300x64.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> The first is clear from the name itself, it says webrevert to stock, which is a file that you can use to restore the device from ddwrt firmware to stock firmware or factory firmware. The other two stand for DDWRT firmware.<br>&nbsp;<br> After downloading the new firmware, I turn off the WiFi on the computer to make sure I can access the router using a LAN cable.<br>I access the router control panel through a web browser and enter the administrator username and password. <br>&nbsp;<br> I always advise you to <strong>backup<\/strong> your current configuration so that in case you should reset your router to the factory firmware for any reason.<br>Then the operating system does not have to be reconfigured, you only load the backup configurations .<br>&nbsp;<br> The DD-WRT documentation recommends resetting the device to the factory settings before the upgrade. I advise you to do so. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"311\" height=\"122\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-6.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-6.png 311w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-6-300x118.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 311px) 100vw, 311px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  I also advise that you always write down your current version of the operating system on your router before updating the device. You never know if you will need them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"308\" height=\"45\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-751\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-10.png 308w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-10-300x44.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 308px) 100vw, 308px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  Now I&#8217;m doing the same thing as a classic firmware upgrade.<br>I&#8217;m using the router&#8217;s regular web update option.<br>So I navigate: <strong>sysem&gt; tools&gt; firmware upgrade<\/strong>.<br>I choose one of these three files that I downloaded. This is the <strong>Factory to ddwrt<\/strong> file and click <strong>Upgrade<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"583\" height=\"172\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-748\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-7.png 583w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-7-300x89.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">  I have to emphasize that this is unofficial firmware or software for the router and no one is responsible if something goes wrong.<br>and you won&#8217;t be able to turn on the router afterwards, so you do everything at <strong>your own risk<\/strong>.<br>&nbsp;<br>And as you can see right away, he threw out that he had loaded the firmware to 100%.<br>The new operating system prompts me to set a new administrator user name and password to access the router. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"471\" height=\"139\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-749\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-8.png 471w, https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-8-300x89.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 471px) 100vw, 471px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> After defining the required information, I click change password immediately transfer me to review the status of the device. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"282\" height=\"100\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hepek.info\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-750\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> This means that the update of the new operating system was successful.<br>&nbsp;<br>Please note that some router models require a <strong>reset<\/strong>, a <strong>restart<\/strong>, a <strong>factory reset<\/strong> or even a <strong>hard reset<\/strong> after the firmware entry.<br>You have to check this for each router model individually, in my case this was not necessary. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Und das war es auch schon.
